Samsung’s latest and best tools for printing are its Smart printers, which are equipped with wireless technology to print from mobile devices.

The printing landscape has changed dramatically over the last few years as mobile devices have proliferated in the workplace. The advent of bring your own device (BYOD) in many organisations has helped propel this trend, while other small business and home office users might simply love the convenience and portability of working with phones, both locally and remotely.

Whether it’s a home office or a small-to-medium business, a common conundrum for many office users is: how can documents, photos, diagrams, schematics, or any other type of content, be printed directly from a compatible mobile device in an easy and efficient way?

Samsung provides a wireless printing solution

Samsung has a solution to this problem by ensuring that its latest laser Smart Printers are all equipped with Wi-Fi technology and Near Field Communication* (NFC) capability. From its small, single-function mono laser printers that are great for a small office, home office environment, right up to the multi-function colour heromodel that can be used in busier multi-user offices, Samsung has printers in its range that are fast and capable of easily printing from compatible mobile devices.

It’s all about streamlined connectivity

Samsung laser printers with NFC, when combined with Samsung’s Galaxy range of compatible phones, can be used to print jobs directly, rather than requiring you and your employees to go through a computer*. Furthermore, the new Smart Printers are Wi-Fi enabled, so they can be harnessed from connected compatible laptops and 2-in-1 devices.

The new Samsung Smart Printers also support Google Cloud Print**, which allows printing from remote locations, as well as from devices such as Chromebooks. For Google Cloud Print, all you have to do is make sure your printer has access to your network and link the printer with your Google account. You will then be able to print compatible files directly from Google Drive.

Samsung Mobile Print

You may have heard the saying “there’s an app for that” with regards to just about everything associated with mobile devices. In this instance, when you say “I want to print from a compatible mobile device”, rest assured that Samsung has an app for that.

Samsung Mobile Print*** is an app that’s available for both the Android and Apple IOS platforms, and it’s a great fit for Samsung’s Galaxy range of phones. Many print tasks can be accomplished through this app, including the printing of compatible photos, documents, PDFs, and Web pages.

In the past, you and your employees may have had to email yourselves documents and photos, or transfer them over the network to a computer before printing them. With the Samsung Mobile Print app, prints can be sent directly from compatible mobile devices.

The way it works is simple: once you install the app, it will automatically detect compatible printers that are present on your wireless network, and offer an interface for sending content directly to that printer. The great thing about it is that it can also be used to capture scan jobs from compatible multifunction devices. Scans can be sent as JPEG, PDF or PNG files directly to a compatible mobile device through the Samsung Mobile Print app.

Mobile printing can be easy thanks to NFC

Many Android-based phones, including Samsung’s Galaxy range, feature NFC. This is a short-range wireless technology that allows two compatible devices to communicate with each other directly. Samsung has introduced this technology to its latest range of Smart Printers and multifunction devices in order to help provide a streamlined user experience when it comes to printing from compatible mobile devices*.

With NFC, the wireless printing experience becomes as simple as tapping a compatible phone on the NFC-enabled printer and selecting the function that you require through the Samsung MobilePrint app. In order to use it, you have to install the Samsung Mobile Print app, and make sure that the NFC and Wi-Fi Direct features are both enabled on your compatible phone, and on your compatible printer.

Once you or any of your employees tap your compatible phone on your NFC-enabled printer (there is a logo on the spot where you need to tap), the NFC chips in both devices communicate and work to set up the direct wireless connection between your compatible devices. It is then just a matter of selecting the printing or scanning function that you wish to perform through the Samsung Mobile Print app. You can even send a fax from your phone through the printer using the app.
